Tutor Profile: Peter Fenwick

After concluding that my tapping about on anything & everything was not just a passing phase my parents bought me my first kit when I was 12. I practiced by playing along with everything that came on the radio, regardless of style, genre or even whether I liked it or not. I must have driven everyone mad but looking back on it now all I remember is their unwavering support and encouragement.

I have now been playing semi-professionally for 35 years and have been lucky enough to have worked with some very talented people. Among the many highlights, I would pick out an appearance on the very first episode of Channel 4's The Tube, recording a Radio 1 session and an accompanying video with Negatives in Colour (which aired on BBC 2's Oxford Roadshow) as being standout memories. As well as sharing a stage with John Peel I have played in bands supporting the likes of Tony McPhee, 999 and Hanoi Rocks whilst on the studio front I have recorded albums with Cabaret Surf (which I am proud to say included 3 self-penned songs) and more recently with The Headshakes on Stunted Records.

My aim is to help people get as much enjoyment from drumming as I have done, and continue to do. If I can do that, I will be very happy.
