Jon Hammond is a dedicated multi-instrumentalist and composer. His main focus is drums and rhythm, but he is also a singer, guitarist and bass player. He began his career teaching drums while he was still at school (to other students during break times) and has been a drummer almost since he was able to walk. Receiving some lessons as a child Jon quickly took to teaching himself and started to play live early on, becoming a session musician in his own right as well as forming and joining many bands.
Jon has released records, performed live on national radio, had music videos on television and has toured all over the country and abroad for various groups and musicians. He draws from this wealth of experience in his teaching and this gives lessons a depth and insight into the full expression of drumming. Students will learn the art of playing drums with who they are as an individual, and will be coached in performance, technique and the philosophy of drumming (why we sit at a kit, how we play with feeling etc). Jon continues to make records and play live in various rock and pop outfits, but enjoys teaching the drums to any age as much as he enjoys playing in general.
"You can be someone who knows how to drum, or you can be a drummer - there's a massive difference. If you already love it, you're close."
Jon teaches at his home in Eastbourne from a sound proof studio, acoustic kit to acoustic kit.
