I have been successfully teaching private drum tuition for 7 years from my home studio. Many of my students have been with me for a long time. My teaching is based largely on the Gigajam syllabus and I like to think that I bring the syllabus to life and make it interesting and relevant for my students.

I always make sure that I tailor my teaching to suit each student as an individual and that I treat them as such. Regardless of their age or ability I give them all the same amount of attention and always do my utmost to support and motivate them.

I myself have been a gigging drummer since the age of 14 and have played in numerous bands at numerous gigs and events. I draw upon my own experiences (good and bad!) to empathize with my students and to help and assist where I can, be it with a tuning issue, a drum repair or upgrade or helping them to stay focused while learning a new and sometimes difficult technique.

I am a well motivated, outgoing and cheerful person and that comes across in my lessons. I like to keep things upbeat (no pun intended) and fun, as I believe that music should be something that is enjoyable and pleasurable and not a chore.

I have been drumming since I was 14 and have been playing in bands since that time. I currently play in 5 bands covering blues, pop, rock, punk and heavy metal. I enjoy walking my dog and have a keen interest in the natural world. I'm also a cat lover and have 2 cats. From the age of 17 until 21 I was a keen hitchhiker and travelled throughout the UK and Europe. I am a devoted husband and dedicated father to 2 young children and I contribute to animal and children's charities. I enjoy stand up comedy and like to watch and read science fiction and fantasy films and books. Recently I have started to regularly attend yoga classes.
